Building brighter futures through LemonAid 2026
At Capital Square, building a legacy means more than creating long-term value through tax-advantaged real estate investment. It also means investing in the communities where we work, live, build and invest. Every summer, that commitment comes to life through our LemonAid initiative, our annual fundraising campaign benefiting Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and helping kids who travel to this nationally recognized hospital from across the country to receive live-saving cancer care.
This year’s corporate LemonAid event took place on July 21 (7/21), a date that carries special meaning for Capital Square.
While many know Section 721 of the Tax Code as the innovative exchange strategy that helps real estate owners preserve wealth and build generational legacies via participation in a DST-to-UPREIT transaction, on July 21, 2026, our focus shifted from financial futures to something even more meaningful: helping build brighter futures for children and families facing some of life’s greatest challenges.
Throughout July and into August, Capital Square and Capital Square Living team members, residents and community partners united to demonstrate that even the smallest acts of generosity can create a lasting impact.

LemonAid 2026 once again showcased the compassion, teamwork and community spirit that define Capital Square’s culture.
Capital Square Living communities across the Mid-Atlantic also joined the effort, bringing residents together through lemonade stands and creative fundraising activities to support this meaningful cause.
