Rallying Together for Donations to Little Hands Virginia
This September, our team once again partnered with Little Hands Virginia, an organization providing essentials and a little extra love to young children in need in Central Virginia. Little Hands sought donations of 200,000 diapers from businesses and individuals in their drive to “Wipe Out Diaper Need” in Greater Richmond during National Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 18 – 24, 2023.
Our team heard the call and dedicated themselves to the cause.
Team members at our Richmond headquarters brought in diapers by the box-full. Others working at offices across the country shipped diapers purchased from Amazon and Target wish-lists to add to our collection. Property management personnel working on site at Capital Square Living communities took pauses in their day to help contribute to our total team effort.
By the end of our drive, the Capital Square team collected 4,075 diapers, which were delivered to Little Hands in multiple carloads. We were proud to help this great organization stock their shelves to help answer at least this single need through the end of the year.
“Seeing the boxes of diapers pile higher and higher was exciting and humbling,” said Capital Square investor communications specialist and effort coordinator Sara Farnor. “Diapers are essential to babies’ health, wellbeing and development, not to mention vital for the peace of mind for families who might already be struggling to make ends meet. I am proud to work with a team whose hearts are ready to assist families they don’t know.”
Capital Square has a focus on building the future. Most frequently, we mean the future of real estate. However, in our Capital Square Cares initiatives, we remain focused on building the future for the youth of our communities.
This team-driven donation effort was just one more way in which we strive to be a catalyst for change in the places where we work, live, build and invest.
