Capital Square’s 2026 internship program: Building the next generation of leaders

Capital Square’s 2026 internship program provided an immersive, hands-on experience across Capital Square’s vertically integrated platform, providing exposure to the people, processes and values that drive one of the nation’s leading real estate investment firms.
Rather than observing from the sidelines, our six interns worked alongside experienced professionals, tackled meaningful projects and gained practical insight into the numerous disciplines that drive Capital Square’s success.
The experience expanded their perspectives on the industry and, for some, influenced the direction of their future studies and goals for entering the workforce. For instance, American University student Alex Krawchuk said viewing real estate through Capital Square’s lens was “transformative” and expanded his understanding of what is possible.
“I learned that real estate investments not only offer incredible opportunities to generate passive income but that they can also protect wealth in terms of tax advantage and by supplementing other investment vehicles,” he said.
Throughout the eight-week program, our interns discovered how each department at Capital Square contributes to the firm’s investors-first philosophy and the full team’s commitment to across-the-board excellence.
A rotational experience across the organization
One of the program’s greatest strengths is its rotational structure, which allowed interns to experience the full lifecycle of a real estate investment.
The program’s rotational format allowed interns to explore departments including:
- Legal
- Treasury and Accounting
- Investor Relations
- Marketing and Brand Communications
- Sales
- Acquisitions
- Development
- Asset Management
- Property Management
Each rotation demonstrated how collaboration across Capital Square’s vertically integrated platform creates long-term value while fulfilling the company’s mission to raise capital, buildings and expectations.
In-depth professional exposure
Throughout the summer, our interns gained practical experience by:

- Reviewing income statements and balance sheets, as well as learning about accrual accounting, cost segregation studies and the importance of analyzing trends over time to provide investors with accurate, meaningful financial information
- Discovering the financial infrastructure supporting Capital Square’s operations and learning how treasury professionals oversee loan payments, investor distributions, wire transfers and cash management, while safeguarding company assets and supporting nearly every department throughout the organization
- Conducting market research, developing presentations and delivering recommendations to company leadership, gaining valuable experience in public speaking and strategic communications while discovering how Capital Square communicates complex tax-advantaged real estate investments through compelling storytelling, educational content and consistent brand messaging
- Experiencing relationship-driven sales and business development, understanding each client’s unique goals and the importance of being a knowledgeable resource because successful sales are built upon integrity, authenticity and long-term relationships

In addition to professional intricacies and skills, Capital Square’s 2026 interns experienced the collaborative culture that defines our firm. Across every department, they found professionals committed to mentoring, teamwork and continuous learning.
Capital Square’s 2026 internship program reinforced how our team builds legacies through our core values and reflected our continued investment in building the future, including developing future real estate professionals.
