Our Partnership with Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU
The Children’s Hospital of Richmond, a world-class pediatric hospital, delivering life-changing care and world-changing research, answers a significant need in the Richmond area as the only comprehensive, full-service children’s hospital in the region. Upon first touring The Children’s Tower, we were inspired by the thoughtful design elements, a hospital for children truly designed by children. We knew we were in a position to make a meaningful difference.
“As business leaders, we have a duty to build something bigger than ourselves – to give back to the community,” said Louis Rogers, founder and co-chief executive officer of Capital Square. “We are thrilled the sponsorship will have a lasting impact by advancing pediatric care in the region. We are honored that the new elevator bank in the Children’s Tower will bear the Capital Square name and remind our investors, team members, family and friends of our duty to give back to the community.”
Our hope is that this sponsorship will have a lasting impact on the development of innovative programs that advance pediatric care. And this was only the beginning of our partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
Working the Phones for the “36 Hours for Kids Radiothon”
Capital Square was also a sponsor of the Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s 11th annual “36 Hours for Kids Radiothon.” In November 2022, a team from Capital Square was on the phones, collecting donation information live as it came in. One team member even took a call from a child in the hospital who wanted to pledge her own financial support. Listen to the powerful story of this inspirational caller.
Afterward, we had the pleasure to take a tour of the new Children’s Tower, well into its construction. The vision and powerful potential of the space was already so clear.
Toy Donation Drive for the Holidays
Our Richmond-based team also came together to bring the joy of the season to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) patients, donating 136 toys in person, plus even more ordered through CHoR’s Amazon Wishlist in December 2022. We think about building the future in many ways, and this time of year especially, we wanted to make the season a bit more special for kids who couldn’t be at home for the holidays.
An Ongoing Relationship
The ribbon has been cut, and the Children’s Tower at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VCU officially opened on April 30th, 2023. We look forward to continuing our support of the Children’s Hospital and its patients for a long time to come.
“Thanks to this generous donation from Capital Square, we are even closer to our goal to help ensure that children in Central Virginia have access to world-class medical care.”
Lauren Moore, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation
