Caring for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond
Amid sips of hot cocoa together on “National Hot Cocoa Day” (December 13th), the Capital Square team sat down to write holiday cards and thank you notes to the life-saving staff of the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. These cards accompanied our annual toy drive donations for the children in the hospital over the holiday season.
The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) has been a cause our Capital Square team has proudly united behind. As we strive to build the future for investors, team members and our community, we know there’s no better cause to champion than one that supports the future of our youth. In the 2023 holiday season, the tradition continued, as the best of traditions do.
Beyond our major contribution toward the completion of the Children’s Tower over a year ago, our team has had multiple opportunities to assist and directly volunteer with the Children’s Hospital of Richmond as well. This holiday season was no different.
Capital Square sent two teams of volunteers to answer the phones for the “36 Hours for Kids” Radiothon, supporting the Children’s Hospital in late November. As we took calls from generous donors, we were so honored to once again be a part of this astounding effort for a truly life-changing cause.
As November rolled into December, we initiated efforts to expand our toy drive donations as well. This year, new toys were collected not only from Capital Square team members but also from residents in our Central Virginia apartment communities managed by CS Living. We passed last year’s toy total to donate over 150 toys to the brave children spending their holidays in the hospital.
When Capital Square team members readied themselves to deliver the collection of toys and cards, which had slowly been growing over weeks in our corporate headquarters’ town hall space, multiple carloads were needed.
Dynamic growth is one of Capital Square’s core values normally discussed regarding our firm’s evolution over time. But this year, we saw it demonstrated in our ever-growing Capital Square Cares efforts, where we fostered a climate of innovation, expansion and continuous improvement in truly special ways.
We look forward to caring for the full community at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in the year ahead, and we also look forward to continuing the holiday tradition of gathering over hot chocolate. It’s our time together as a team that reminds us how much we can do together.
